"The ballroom looked a dream, the bay trees were very pretty and the set pieces looked amazing, you really did great work. I hope the arrangements find their way into your portfolio!"

Designer and creator of GMTV 2005 Wedding Flowers - Sun City, South Africa

Over 7500 couples entered GMTV 2005 wedding competition. Hannah and James were the lucky couple that won and then it was up to the public to decide what happened next, choosing all aspects of their live on screen wedding.

I was chosen as one of three florists to design and create a unique bouquet for Hannah to hold. As part of the design process I knew that I wanted to create a bouquet that Hannah was going to be proud to hold on the day. It was going to be a bright and beautiful fairy tale wedding, with a princess style dress and bo-ho chic hairstyling, therefore it was vital the flowers complimented the various themes.

The design I created was bright and bold to reflect the vibrancy of Sun City, and also long and elegant to compliment the fullness of the wedding dress, whilst being light and comfortable for Hannah to hold.

Using a combination of pink gloriosa and yellow oncidium orchids, all the flowers were individually wired and attached to flexi grass to achieve a floor length flowing bouquet.

After appearing on GMTV, the public voted and my unique creation was chosen as the winner.

A few weeks later I flew out to Sun City with the GMTV crew to film the wedding. Logistically transporting the flowers was going to be difficult, so I carried them as hand luggage and stored them carefully on arrival so they were at their peak of freshness on the wedding day. Waking at 4am, I made the bouquet and buttonholes, and added further gloriosa to the ceremony and reception flowers to ensure all the flowers complimented each other.

I have since recreated the bouquet for a bride in the UK, who simply 'loved' what she had seen on screen.
